UnitBasse in a few words
Learn a new scale. Tune up. Find the right amp tone. Plug in an effect. To do all that, bass players typically open 4 or 5 different apps — often ugly, sometimes limited, never specifically designed for bass. UnitBasse brings the essentials together in a single native macOS application : 69 interactive scales with full fretboard and auto-calculated fingerings, a precise chromatic tuner, vintage and modern amp models with cabinets, a pedalboard with 22 built-in effects, plus direct access to Audio Unit plugins installed on your Mac.

UnitBasse Launches: The Mac App That Brings Theory and Studio Together for Bass Players
Paris, France — June 1, 2026 — 20 fois l'ours today announces the release of UnitBasse, a native macOS application built for bass players, combining a chromatic tuner, 69 interactive scales, a complete amp with effects, and access to Audio Unit plugins. Available now on the Mac App Store at $9.99.
Filling a gap in the Mac music software market
While guitarists enjoy a wide selection of Mac apps tailored to their instrument, bass players have been historically underserved on the platform. Most existing tools are mobile apps, web wrappers, or guitar-centric solutions adapted to bass without much care. UnitBasse offers an alternative designed specifically for bass, end to end.
Four modules in a single app
The Scales module displays an interactive fretboard up to the 20th fret with automatic fingering calculation. It covers 69 scales — pentatonics, major modes, harmonic and melodic minor modes, blues scales, bebop, exotic scales (Japanese, Arabic, Persian, Indian, Balinese) and symmetrical scales. Each scale is documented : description, usage tips, related chords, musical styles.
The chromatic tuner detects frequency through NSDF algorithm, accurate to the cent, with adjustable A4 reference from 430 to 450 Hz to accommodate orchestral practice.
The Amp module offers eight amplifier modelings (SVT Classic, Bassman '59, Bass 400+, GK 800, AD200B, 360, GP12, Microtubes Modern) and five cabinets (4×10, 1×15, 8×10, 1×12, direct DI).
The pedalboard integrates 22 internal effects from Noise Gate to Reverb, plus a chain of external AU plugins to use any Audio Units plugin installed on the Mac.
