About

An app born from
a bass player’s need.

Denis, a musician for as long as I can remember: sax first, then guitar and percussion,
and whatever’s lying around the house, from piano to harmonica.

Denis, bass player and creator of UnitBasse, on stage

The bass, by chance

And then… my buddy Nico asks me to start a band, with me on bass! I love trying new things, so I jump in. I quickly hit a wall: to learn, you have to juggle PDFs, YouTube videos and websites. For guitar, there’s no shortage of software. For bass, nothing brings it all together.

At first, an app just for me

So I start building one, just for me. Scales first. Then I need a sound, without hauling around another amp: I add the amp. Then the tuner, then the effects. Today, Scores and BackTrack close a loop that had been open in the back of my mind since the very beginning.

Hours, and a lot of fun

UnitBasse means hours of research, checking, lines of code and testing. Above all, it’s the joy of seeing a small personal idea become a tool other bass players use.

Independent, and proud of it

I’m not a professional developer. I have another job, and that’s exactly what excites me: being able to create the tools I need, and that you might need too. UnitBasse is published by my studio, 20 FOIS L’OURS, with no investors and no ads.
