The Prometheus scale has 6 notes: 1 2 3 ♯4 6 ♭7. In A, that gives A, B, C♯, D♯, F♯ and G. Six notes linked to Scriabin and his symphonic poem “Prometheus”: a whole-tone color with a major sixth.

One position on the neck

Which chords to play it over

In A, the Prometheus scale fits A7♯11 and A9♯11. On bass, keep the root on the strong beats and use the other notes to connect the chords.
